I have an older Seafarer 701 echo sounder, now with a broken lead. The co-axial cable has sheared (I stood on it!?) right up close to the sensor clamp nut. Where can I buy a new sensor? or do you have any ideas on how the cable can be re-connected? It has sheared so close to the nut that there is no cable stub left!!
Any ideas would be appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If you need a new Transducer and cable the NASA one is compatible with older Seafarer sounders.
Should be readily available.
If you can't find one I may have a new spare one lurking in the shed /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A couple of options a) Post a note on the wanted section as I am sure several people will have one in the back of the shed or b) look at e-bay as they quite often come up for sale, you may need to buy the whole unit though.

I had exactly the same problem as you. A NASA transducer is a stright swop and I got one off EBay for about £20 the year before last. I seem to remember there were a couple of people selling them at the time.

Thanks for your input. I will try the repair route and if that fails I wuill try to get a replacement NASA unit. It's either that or put a request for a brand new one - modern and all that - on my birthday list.

Again, thanks for your replies.

I might be interested in one lurking in the garage?

Are you selling the one in your garage? I might be interested if the repair fails. Also, are the dimension of the sender unit the same as the NASA ones? Or will I have to cut more holes on the hull?

I would be willing to sell one, I think I have two, one which came with a Seafarer unit, and one which came with the NASA unit I now have fitted.
I will dig them out and see if they are exactly the same dimensions, but I am pretty sure they are.
I will post the answer when I have it.

I have as I thought 2 new transducers.
One is Seafarer and the other NASA.
They are both the same diameter end piece at 37mm.
The Seafarer one is shallower 22mm against 32mm
The threaded shank which goes through the hull is 13mm on the NASA and 15mm on the Seafarer.
Hope this is clear (ish)

Let me know if you are interested.
