broken gooseneck bolt

Hi,

My Boom has done this
Still having good luck. by nathanleefloats, on Flickr

Any ideas on repairing or replacing the gooseneck bolt?

Cheers

James

Hi I think the best thing to do would be put the end into a vice with the bolt upright, flood the thread with loads of WD40 / Plus Gas for a couple of days, drill a suitable pilot hole and remove the existing thread with a screw extractor. you can then use the removed thread, to identify a replacement?

I take it you previously used a nut on the threaded part which has sheared off. Best bet will probably be to drill and tap a blind hole half way into the piece you are holding then fit a bolt with suitable washers etc. Or I guess you could screw in a stud and continue to use a nut.

Its not a bolt sheared off

Its a solid piece surely with the threadedd bit on the end broken off.

However dilling, tapping and screwing in a short stud will repair it .. possibly not a strong as originally though

Like this i guess before it broke

Depending on the size of your boom I may have a complete replacement (boom with gooseneck fitted that is) for a respectable price. :)
