When climbing over the bow onto decking ... foot caught the pulpit mounted port nav light ... broke the press tab that locks it together ...

I have replacement Osculati lights that have two screws to hold case together - much better idea ... but they will be fitted later once boat is ashore ...

Till then - I think a drill and small self-tapper to hold orignal together !

Its not first nav light to fail like this .. idea is OK - but still think the two screws method is better.

Just asking ...

I have looked quite often for a single dual light that can be mounted from the TOP ... that is fitted UNDER the centre front of pulpit without need for stainless plate ... any ideas ?

From distant memory, my bow dual light is fitted under the front of the pulpit, mounted on a piece of teak with a couple of modified stainless brackets. I'll have look later in the week and take a photo.

Because I pass my anchor under the pulpit for anchoring .. I need to keep it as clear as possible ... adding a stainless plate and using the standard Dual light would interfere with that ...
I'm trying to find a light that actually mounts from its top ...

I did consider a teak cross wood and light fitted to that but as I say - it closes off part of the anchor access ....

I also don't want the light too far fwd under there as I often bow to pontoons / docks and I already through no fault of mine - smashed the dual light on my 38 from that ..

TBH - the lights I have .. I don't like as they stick out from pulpit and is why it got damaged ..

Just a thought, probably a no-no, but. If the lenses in the light are removable could you not swap them over and mount a light upside down? I am trying to imagine how the Fresnel would work but difficult without one in front of me  😵‍💫:ROFLMAO:

the lenses would be in their normal orientation, only the housing will be upside down.

The lights I have now are the typical HELLA type where you fix the back plate to boat .. then clip the curved lense part to the backplate.

I have a small dome shaped duel LED light on my speedboat that even though small is very good and bright ...

But it would need to sit on top of pulpit or on a shelf under ..

I have considered putting a shelf ...

I fitted a sea on the cross bars of my pulpit and fitted my bow nav light under the seat that would protect the nav light from being hit if the pushpin bashing anything hitting the seat

This may be interesting ... if it does come apart as shown ... then flip the LED internal round so case is other way up to fit under 'seat' ....

Edit : On studying the pictures - I don't think it can be flipped 180 ...

mmmm the advantage of a dual light fitted under the puplit is of course - the angles are correct - unlike the 'toe-in' of the side mounted ....

I could use 3 L plates .. one each side bolted to the light plates to carry the seat ... and then 3rd underneath to carry the dual light.

I find it annoying that pulpit manufacturers seem to be unable to set the light plates aligned to C/L of a boat ...

That is exactly why I designed and made my pulpit pit as well as my push pit so I could incorporate the bow twin light and single cable down the legs and into the anchor locker and the mounting of the stern light again with a single wire down the push pit leg to the underside of the stern deck,

Tis also allowed me to fit the lights in a location that would reduce ay possible damage to the lights by hitting any prodding fittings

Thanks ..

Not too happy with the clamp on type ... puts the light slightly ahead of rail ...

I think your idea of the seat and slung under is better ... similar to what my 38 has ... where the 'seat' is the step through Baltic style ...

A much better pulpit IMHO than the typical 'Brit' design !
