Visited Thornham, whilst we're moored in Northney, on a Seawind research mission (see Fantasy Boat thread). No Seawinds in. But Multihull World (the newly appointed UK Seawind agent) turn out to own the Broadblue catamaran brand. Which, sadly, they are winding down, where new builds are concerned. A real loss, based on what I saw:

Had a sit in a (£2-3 million) 55' Broadblue Rapier 550. With a helm station resembling the bridge of The Starship Enterprise and capable of 30 knots.

Amazing, in a different way, was the Darren Newton designed Broadblue 346. Just 33' long. . . .

. . . .but with an agoraphobia inducing cockpit and deck-saloon-come-galley. The former featuring all sail controls led to a single winch station within reach of a well sheltered helm. Those winches set to an ergonomically efficient height and angle. Full standing headroom throughout. Clever boat. Well finished.

There were no Broadblue 385's in. But, by way of compensation, I was able to see aboard Spirit of Freedom. A Dazcat 1195. Which is a design that I have ogled from afar for more than 10 years.

Shared for the news of the Broadblue wind down. And for the fact that Multihull World are running an Open Day tomorrow (Saturday 2.5.26). Which includes a "Try-a-Tri" event. On a Corsair (for which they are also UK agents). That brand under the same Australian ownership as Seawind. (Seawind 1170 pictured). Alot to see and much multihull wisdom to absorb, I found.
