It has been confirmed that the 2016 Impala Nationals will be at Brixham from 15th to 17th July.

A week later the Enterprise Nationals take place at the same venue.

Clearly it would appear that I shall be spending a fair bit of time on the English Riviera this summer. I have sailed in the bay a few times on various boats, but not for some years and never as tactician. From recollection it's flat water but quite shifty.

The town itself I have visited twice, both by boat. It seemed rather nice and the yacht club is a cracker.

What are other folks experiences?

Read the reports of the Wayfarer Nats & GP Nats held there this year.

I keep my boat in The outer harbour and in this generally windy summer Torbay has been decidedly crinkly at times, particularly in Easterlies. The bay shelves quite steeply from Berry Head into Paignton which decidedly affects the sea conditions much of the time.

Only raced there once, Torquay week a few years back. Golden rule in a SW seemed to be go hard right, towards Torquay as there was quite a big right bend as you went up the beat, and especially so on the right. After a while the committee clearly got bored of this and moved the race area closer to Brixham, meaning it was less effective, but still seemed to pay to go right.
