Brittany Coast

Just returned from a few weeks on the North Brittany Coast and quite frankly have lost count of the number of boats, usually travelling between Brittany and the Channel Islands, who had been fouled by netteing or line. One boat was fouled on both the inward and outward passage.

I can honestly say that each person I spoke to was thoroughly shaken by the experience.

Considering the miles we travelled, I think we were lucky. We have got a rope cutter fitted so I would like to think this helped.

yeah its like that on the normandy coast - outside carteret is a nightmare, the tops of the pot ropes arent leaded so they stretch out which is more than annoying, let alone dangerous!

Happened both ways to me too. (Nets). But one this side of the Channel and one t'other side. Rope cutter is unlikely to help, as the net eventually wrapped itself around the prop, drastically reducing speed and steerage. It also slaps violently against the hull of course.
