Brittany - advice for a base for 2020 cruise

I have had to swallow some stinking cab fares, as well. Bearable, perhaps with a full car but horrendous for one or two. I won't do it now, it can cost well over the cost of the flight. Like dslittle my crew also had to take a hotel overnight, after flying to Nantes.

The best airport is probably La Rochelle, where a regular service bus takes you right into town and walking distance of the boat. Brest is also good esp with the newer marina.

Apart from that it is the boat for me, once you are in France in the morning SNCF will get you to most places the same day.
In the case of Roscoff the difficulty is getting first to Morlaix, it is doable, there are buses but they are thin on the ground and it is all a bit vague. Quiz Brittany Ferries about onward travel and they are "not sure" which is bizarre and I suspect is said to avoid friction with local cab owners.
