Bristol Channel/Severn Estuary Where is it competition.

I think further up channel, off Portishead. Newport in the distance, possibly taken from the pub garden. Is it the Royal Oak?

Then taken from Portishead point at the end of the round the Holms race. Newcombe must be just out of shot on the right. The messy water in the foreground must be the back eddy that comes down from the pier into the bay which I can never remember the name of!

My guess would be off Newport, pointing down towards the Holms. I've never been there at low water so definitely a guess.

Thanks, Temujin! There's copyright on those photos, which I'm still trying to forget!
Actually, I have only just come across this thread, and was thinking of posting the pic ..... and found you'd beaten me to it.
Well done Nemo - we were trying to get from Oldbury to Cardiff without tacking (don't ask me why), and were cutting the corner inside Welsh Hook, and went twenty metres too far and hit the only tump! We then spent 7 hours pretending to scrub the bottom and redo the antifouling, till the tide came back. The re float was an interesting experience, and another story.
I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Hehe. Have often wondered what the consequences of misjudging that side of the channel might look like, most recently again today when we decided to take away sooner rather than later. Would quite like to hear the story of the refloat some time.
