talking to a pal recently about the problems of heading for lands end with a deep keel ( ie ideally an east wind, lundy not available, combe no good etc) he suggested Clovelly even in an easterly ( shelter from the cliffs). I wondered about Woolacombe in an easterly.

Anyway, the point of this post is to suggest that we all list our bristol channel anchorages is lat /long together with the wind direction in which they are protected. There must be lots of them about as used by the old sailing coasters

Well I suppose its better to have the same great idea twice than not have it at all. Maybe. :D

The only useful comment from the last time was to suggest south of baggy point in an easterly. Someone suggested Lynmouth ( useless with my draft) Woody Bay and Croyde. Never tried the latter. But I dont know the wind angles protected on any of them.

I suppose one alternative is downwind to Swansea and then a beam reach to Padstow.
