Some of you on here might recognize that I am a big supporter of the Hurley Davit that launches and recovers my Ribeye tender. It is a great, but simple system that is mounted to my bathing platform. Made of aluminium, with a powder coating, I found a lot of corrosion when preparing Rafiki for this new season. The davit is now 3 seasons old, but I am pretty sensible about washing Rafiki down after a trip, and so I was not best pleased. I Googled Hurley and got the manufacturer in Michigan, and shared a couple of e mails with them, and they agreed to refurb. Fantastic, but not a great deal of help to me. BHG came up as a UK dealer, so I contacted them. They very quickly agreed either to a substantial discount off a new davit, or to refurb mine, which they have done, superbly. It is now back on Rafiki, see below. It looks like new. I had not come across them previously, but my experience of their customer service is second to none, and they will get my vote come the YBW Awards at the end of this year.

I called in to BHG a few months ago when looking at Tenders & outboards and was iimpress by their product knowledge and friendly service. Would also recommend for YBW awards

Cheers

I've been considering those. I spoke to BHG - they were very good giving advice although with my current set up they don't think they would fit (I'm an ex engineer by trade, I haven't given up yet, need to see one in the flesh to work out whats needed as my swim platform is very narrow)...

Agreed.. We bought our new Merry Fisher 695 from them last year.. They were great with a sea trial and the sale process.. After delivery we found that the weight of the boat was higher than listed on the Jeanneau website so the weight was too high for the supplied trailer.. They swapped out the trailer for a larger one (and we paid the incremental cost) with no issues.. New boat niggles were also sorted out easily..

just a quick question if I may. Can it be taken off the bathing platform or is it a permanent fixture ? I would worry about bending it as a total newbie to boat handling. Secondly are they a DIY fit ? many thanks

Installation is a DIY job. Removing the Davit is not too difficult, but not a "5 minute job". When our tender is in the water the bathing platform is quite clear.

I thought there was a version where you can pull a pin out and swivel them so they are then aboard the curtilage of the bathing platform? I've looked on the BHG website but can't see anything that does that.
Just out of interest - I (hope) I've attached a picture of the back of my squadron - you may see now why these davits may not fit. It gives a bigger cockpit but the swim platform is very small to try and fit these davits on to.

I have the largest mounting feet on mine at 36". There is a 10" version. I would give BHG a call and see if they can help.
