Having painted the hull with brightside, I've found that the lower edge may be up 6" below the estimated water line. Can I use antifouling on top of this or should I sand the b-side off? Also boot-topping, is this gloss or antifouling?
Thanks

Might be worth giving the International helpline a ring.

You will need to use an underwater primer such as Primocon so that the antifoul will hold ok. International should be able to tell you if this is suitable over Brightside.

I understand that International will no longer be producing Brightside in the future.

I would say no. On a previous boat which was painted with Brightside the small section of the hull below the anchor locker drain which was almost constantly wet with drips from the locker bubbled, blistered and peeled off

We have the boot topping painted in Brightside, as recommended by International. The top half of the line is above the water and is fine, the bottom half is below the water and has significant weed growth on it.

Although the paint is fine, the weed is a b***er to get off even with a scrubbing brush.
Think I'll raise the line by 2 inches next time..

The paint hasn't blistered or peeled though from what I can tell.

Thanks for replies. However, I was mixed up (!) with all the painting I've been doing, and the topsides have actually been finished with Toplac - any differences in opinions?
Thanks again
