A quick update on the Water Taxi Service in Brightlingsea from the Harbour Commissioners Newsletter.

A busy summer’s day in the Harbour can mean a hellishly busy time for the water taxi! Especially when there’s only one person running it! For many years the service has been
provided by a private operator, but this year, Ian Hunter has passed over Colne Ranger’s keys to Brightlingsea Harbour Commissioners so that our own team will provide this vitally important service for users of the Harbour. This means that come rain or shine, the water taxi will always be on station according to the timetable and operating between the
pontoons, moorings and the Town or CYC jetties. This year the fares remain the same at £1.00 per head per journey to any of the BHC moorings, but a token system will be introduced for BHC mooring holders and visitors so that a journey will cost 1 token. As an
incentive to encourage the use of the water taxi, bags of tokens will be available at a
discounted rate – buy 12 tokens for £10. Tokens will be available from the water taxi or from the Harbour Office. Journeys to moorings owned or operated by third parties will be charged a slightly higher rate. You can call the water taxi on vhf channel 37 (channel M), or
on the same mobile phone number, 07535 508537. Taxi operating times are available
from the Harbour Office or our website www.brightlingseaharbour.org

We were there yesteday - very helpful chaps indeed.

I did have to snigger a bit re the tokens..... you buy 1 token for a pound.... and then give him back the token for a trip ashore!!

Regards

Ian
