Hi all,

I understand there is currently a waiting list for the pontoon moorings ran by the Harbour Commission.

Does anyone have any idea of how long the potential wait might be?

I am just looking at options for next season.

You may have to take a swinging mooring for a year, there actually is a waiting list. You might want to book the winter on the pontoon, that might help.

Thank you, i did send them an email today to say I would take a fore and aft mooring so let's see what happens.

Fingers crossed.
Fore and aft are a pain in the proverbial. See if you can get a swinging mooring. Best if you turn up in person, they are open weekends

Fore & Aft are "only" a pain because they're half tide. They are very safe & snug, and they are very cheap, and they do get you a foot in the door at B'sea.

No swinging moorings unless you use another yard further down. Brightlingsea is all fore & aft. They have quite a few free half tide ones but the full tide ones that line up behind the pontoons look pretty full. I'm on a half tide on the point clear side, 3rd boat back. S3

BHC does have a few almost-all-tide (depending on your draft) swinging moorings beyond the fore-and-afts, just downstream of the White pontoon. We were on one for several years, it's a very nice place to be as long as you don't mind sitting in the mud on low springs.

Hey Mike,

She is 22ft, but with a bow split so bit more in reality, she draws 4ft long keel.

We kept our 25' gaffer (4' draft) on what was described on the BHC invoice as a "JP centre mooring" - these are swinging moorings in between the way-upstream White pontoon (where we berth our AWB now) and the fore-and-afts. It's a great spot to be. You'll be sat well in the mud on low springs but otherwise have access at almost all states of the tide. Another option is if they can find you a space on the White pontoon, it wasn't rammed full this year.
