Brightlingsea Harbourmaster

Does anyone remember a harbourmaster John Hickman? We were cadets together in a cargo ship in the early 60's. I think his older brother was third mate. The next I saw of him was when he popped his head over my gunnel asking for harbour dues. I believe his brother was killed at sea, maybe in the Thames Estuary. I have been to Brightlingsea a number of times since, without seeing him. I was wondering what happened to him, and am I right in thinking his brother was drowned?

Not sure if the same family but Peter Hickman runs Underwoods Hard in Brightlingsea and may well be John's son - he took over the yard when his father died

Sadly John passed away some time ago now.
His son Peter still runs Underwoods Hard Boatyard on the Brightlingsea North Channel. One of the few traditional yards left...certainly in Brightlingsea!

Sadly, I think their web site has been hacked. Attempts to access it from either the link above or from a Google search seem to lead to some rathe dodgly redirections. Happens on a desktop and my 'phone. If I'm right it might be a kindness for someone to mention it to them (I have no contact details)
