Brief mid week situation

An electric toilet on a Snapdragon 23 /24 foot boat is odd to say the least and without the holding tank a future problem for you as I expect there is no convenient place to put one.
The other boat in itself looks an altogether better prospect, the only issues I see from the few photographs is the minimalist cooking arrangements but then from what you say of your potential use it's unlikely to be a problem for you, the other potential problem is what looks to be an old engine and if it is at the end of its first service life then it would be a very big problem, you would only know by testing it .
There is a good Sole engineer in Sada a short distance by road.Yes the electric w.c could be a problem though a porta pottie could be installed

I am not at all agin a Snappie (unlike some of our brethren), but it looks rather down at the stern in the photos, (Are the supposed crew of 10 hiding in the cockpit locker, or is it the unusually large water (200l) and fuel (50l) tanks?)

The lack of interior photos, and the presence, on a boat with an inboard engine, of an outboard on a transom bracket always raises my suspicions.

But the time for pondering is past. You need to go and see it, and the you will know.
Yes the outboard is not good .

I presume the tariff isn’t several hundred percent of the second hand purchase price though?

In all seriousness, would buying a small 24ft boat in the Uk - one with a modern 4stroke outboard for a couple of grand and trailering it / sailing it down to Galicia not be cost effective?
Initially we looked at that idea but it was discounted

From that one decision you have narrowed the field of options enormously though- and to save what?
A bit of personal travel and the negotiating engaging an import agent for a fixed price,

There are clearly vendors in the UK who would put their faith in their boat and deliver it for a nominal arrangement.
There are many beautiful, well suited and affordable boats for sale here that I feel would suit you and your wife’s notion of comfortable Ria wandering.

Sometimes the most basic premise decisions need to be reappraised!

Because they’re not working out. . QED

I bet you wouldn’t be looking at Sndpdrsgons and unknowns in the UK- or would you ?

This morning I briefly looked at Apolloduck and Boatsandoutboards looking for a 8/9 meter sailing boat suitable to get it back to Galicia.Having bought a Albin Vega in the UK about ten years ago now in all it took two visits to find the boat and then it was not in any real condition to sail back although the original plan was to keep it in the UK which we did till we sold it just before the COVID.Butthewholebusiness of going to the UK hireing a car accommodation and keep soon adds up and the description of the boat you went to see doesn’t match reality it’s an expensive business.Takingthe Snapdragon asan example there is on in the UKfor sale at 4500 quid…..the one in Galicia a hour away is 8500 euros probably less .Will all the harassment of travel etc the Galician boat looks the better deal at the momment and that does not include the additional import tax on the UK boat.Indeedthe UKmarket offer is much bigger but adding on the previous mentioned factors finding a boat locally would be more suitable

It's all academic as you aren't buying a boat.

It’s all so much effort isn't it really ?

Well, no one is going to wave a magic wand that’s for sure.

Ah well.

Enjoy looking /not buying I guess.

Some people do that with house viewings and antique shops.
“it’s a day out” 😊👍

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing–absolutely nothing–half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

What Wansy's doing is getting the fun and the dream, but without the bit about standing in a cold shower, tearing up £50* notes. I'm not entirely sure that's such a bad idea...

* Adjusted for inflation.

On the subject of tearing up £50 notes, I had to have one of my fuel tanks out to clean it. The filler pipe was a) knackered, and b) the wrong type. A new pipe of the proper stuff was over £70 a metre :eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Bargain! I presume you bought a couple of meters - you wouldn't want to be without a spare?
