Hi there,

Can anyone please direct me to a site where I can view Brest Coefficients for the year.

Many thanks in advance.

I think that you'll have to explain this to most of us. I've Googled Brest tidal coefficients and learned that they have tidal records for Brest going back to 1679 but, although I'm familiar with the term coefficient, I've never heard of a tidal coefficient.

Best I can find is here. but havent explored it to see if you can change the date. My Reeds is down on the boat, surely it's in there?

Just checked last years Reeds. The tidal Coeffs are on page 851. So presumably they are in the 2007 edn.

Reeac -

Tidal Coefficient is the range in % of the mean spring equinox tidal range for any particular place and time .
Usually quoted in the range from 0.0 to 1.0, however negatives are possible.

Once you know that the max MHWS range is e.g. 5.0m then knowing that for a particular time the TC is say, 0.65 then you have 3.25m range and can predict depths accordingly.

Hope this helps - from a theory course years ago and the brain cells are a bit rusty.......

James,

Tidal coefficients are adimensional numbers related to tide amplitude, they can vary from 20 (lowest, at LAT) to 120 (highest, at HAT), 95 is for mean springs and 45 for mean neaps

Although they are originally computed with Brest heights, they are valid for all the Atlancit and Channel coasts
