For those who asked :D

Ross came back this morning.

Checked the entire fuel system step by step....plenty of diesel getting through.

Checked the fuses: all working. Found a 'gunky' conection which he cleaned up, but no obvious faults so started to suspect something electrical.

After all was put back together, I took a chance and turned the ignition....fired-up first time and ran quieter and smoother than at any time in the past year...and kept running :D

The bad news is that when I turned her off in order to try a second time: dead again.

Ross has recommended finding someone to run diagnostics and thinks possibly a faulty sensor hiding in there. The challenge now is to get someone who has the kit to do this on an FNM diesel.......the search is on.

Bugger.....on top of being made redundant on Monday AND the sun blazing (so I have time and weather)....a pain in the wotsit.

O yes... the typical boaty conundrum.

Plent of time but no money or Got the money but too busy to boat :(

Is your FNM engine (aka Fiat), the 2500cc one?

This is a shot in the dark but IIRC, Fiat bought the 2.5 lump from Iveco. So two options re. diagnostics - Iveco truck and van dealer that will come to you or a Fiat van dealer, again that will come out.

Keep us posted.

eBay

buy a "project", roll around on it for a week, clean it and sell it as "recent complete renovation" for a tidy profit, boosting the reduncy funds and getting you on the water!

simple
:)

Great idea....now all I have to do is convince SWMBO!

Second thoughts.....I think I'll just pull out a few fingernails and stick needles in my eyeball....far far easier :D
