Planning on doing a few trips on the non-tidal Thames. Our boat is trailered.

Is there a breakdown recovery service available on the non-tidal Thames?

Hopefully, I won't be breaking down on any trips but wondering what to do if I ever did!

There's no dedicated Thames breakdown service so I use River Canal Rescue https://www.rivercanalrescue.co.uk/

It's worth pointing out that RCR are not an 'on demand' service (as are fire / ambulance and so forth).
You have to take out an annual suscription - however this is not ruinously expensive, thus may be considered as good value if you are concerned.

We wish we'd taken out cover when we went tidal! Our single Mariner 40 (a little over 3 years old) had a fuel pump failure when we were in St Kats lock and we had to be towed in. Lucky it was once in the lock and not while still on the river! But it still cost just under a grand to get fixed plus an unexpected week long mooring in St Kats while we waited for parts! Sadly we had to return home on the train (to go back to work) rather than stay and enjoy the benefits of such a great location.

Unfortunatley seastart do not cover the non-tidal thames, thanks for the suggestion though.

We subscribed and called them out once for an emergency but they were too busy!

Cancelled the subscription.

River Canal Rescue have this in their small print about their coverage - "All inland waterways within the borders of England, Wales and Scotland, excluding tidal estuaries (but including the tidal stretch of the River Trent from Newark to Keadby)"

I have subscribed to River Canal Rescue for 6 years and have always found them excellent. Rather like the AA but on water.
When I've had occasion to call them for example, broken morse cable, overheating engine, fuel pump failure etc. They have come out to wherever I happened to be and sorted it out within hours.

I get basic cover with my boat insurance - stightly cheaper than going direct.
