bray riverside brasserie

Many Bray regulars will not go back, after finding 'Hit and Miss' service and food, notwithstanding they totally shafted us on a pre-arranged club event in every way (They 'forgot' the booking for 26 people, and only remembered after we popped in the night before to check it was all OK, the meal was, in parts terrible, service poor, and one of the waiters was actually rude, which was witnessed by several others. Plates not cleared away, desserts vile, coffees so late most people had gone to bed!)

We tried a couple of times for Breakfast, which was again hit and miss, for example white floppy bread masquerading as 'Rustic Toast!?

At this point we decided it would be better not to return. Ever.

We also noted that they closed in Winter for Sunday breakfasts, that was the final nail...

its seems to me that the last few and present owners are trying to cash in on the 'Bray' village reputation for good food, without providing the food or service to match (just the prices).
It is such a shame, as the location is pretty good (albeit you wouldn't really know about it unless you are in the marina or someone had told you about it). Any present or future owners could do well to follow what GoGo's in Windsor racecourse marina have done. That place is always full and buzzing, plus you can go there for just drinks, as well as decent reasonably priced food.

One of those places ...(Provided the rent /rates etc are not too onerous ??? ,cos basically a glorified chalet on an out of the way riverbank only accessable after going past a ballast yard down a knackered bumpy concrete track and lurking behind a lot of stored boats in need of a good wash).....where it is difficult to see why it is having such trouble surviving.

Perhaps,as other have said, dump the Bray prententions, loadsmoney a decade in the past and just make it a decent cafe /clubhouse type food joint
Cull any snotty mega wine list down to few Aldi Pinots and Hey Presto ?

Thats about it. Minimal staff, maximum value, and take your money differently.

Watch it fail once more, as they strive to drag in the wrong people...

Every single time we have stopped in Bray, the chance of either a breakfast, lunchtime meal or a sensibly priced evening meal would have seen us inside the building, as opposed to the longish walk to the nearest pub (basic and dire) or the even longer walk to the pub in the next village over.( better food but dangerous walk back in the dark).
The distance to Bray is simply beyond a stroll.
