Does anyone know if you can access Bray village from the lane the marina is on (monkey island lane) by foot / bike? I know there are signs up on the road saying No access to village, but I don't know if that just means for cars only.
Just wondered as if you could, we might walk or bike to one of the pub / restaurants there next season

I believe the road was blocked off several years ago to prevent cars using it as a short-cut, mainly due to the very poor state of it.
Monkey Island Lane does in fact go all the way to Monkey Island (hence the name). Look it up on Multi-map
I drove a car along the entire length of the track many years ago and it was an extremely uncomfortable ride, no wonder they closed it off! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You can walk down the lane into Bray and enjoy one of several hostelries. The Crown is very nice and the most affordable, although the Hinds Head has a very pleasant bar and roarig log fire.

"Does anyone know". Google Earth might!

You can get through. many don't realise that Monkey Island Hotel has a bar offering well priced lunches e.g. fish and chips £6.50, If the fire is going the Monkey Room is a great little snug on a cold afternoon, and during the summer its great to sit on the lawn there. If you have the bikes cycle over the wooden bridge to Dorney Village (7 minutes from marina probably closer than bray village) and take lunch at the Pineaplle, they offer over 250 sandwich combinations, so great for lunch also. The Palmer Arms in Dorney is under offer and should be back open in the new year, the garden there is tops.
