Brass hinges

Looking for some solid brass flush hinges 51mm x 19mm to replace some rusy horribel brass plated ones.

Only place I can find any is Force 4 at £8.95 a pair, which seems excessive. Anyone got any other sources?

Try hardware outlet on eBay - I bought some similar sizes from them recently, for a lot less than 8.95

All plated, not solid brass. Might just go with plated anyway, but they always rust :-(

I've had some in the past which were brass with stainless hinge pins but more recent ones were solid brass with brass pins. Lots around which were brass with mild steel pins which of course RUST!! Sorry cant remember where I got them from.

A few years back I bought some off ebay. They were solid brass, including the pins, and cost me lots less. They were from a seller in the UK.

Ah well. It was just a suggestion. Do make sure you're not buying brass hinges with steel pins (if they are for marine use)

Next time you buy hinges try ironmongery Direct. They may have something to suit at about £ 3-4-00 per pair although not necessarily the exact size.

It would also be helpful if there was more standardisation. It's annoying when you buy the right sized hinges but the holes don't line up with the holes in the timber, which then have to be plugged and re-drilled.

I do that, not worth buying stuff to last for what I want so I buy cheap and chuck it away, if I need the same tool again I'll buy another new one and still be quids in.
