Hi all, my mercedez OM352 marine lump needs new belts methinks..but as far as I can see they are all bramer type belts made up of many different links riveted together if you get me....the only issue I have is that there is no adjustments anywhere....no brackets to loosen of allowing easy removal and refitting of new ones SO my question is How do I go about changing them? I can of course cut away the old ones but I cannot imagine how a belt of fixed length can be forced over pulleys then be expected to be taught enough to function properly. Your thoughts ladies and gentlemen. Alan in Arbroath.

Brammer Belts, a large company with a comprehensive website, will supply you with belts. The new one can be put on with pliers. Get a tin of belt dressing as well, it makes your water pump and alternator bearings last longer because the belt doesn't need to be so tight.
Easy peasy ask me another.

OK that explains it, the fitter must adjust or in some way alter the belt length as required..regards and thanks Alan

Yes you get the type of belt that has the leather segments held together with clips that you can replace yourself with pliers (I have a feeling they can supply a dedicated tool but pliers will do) and you adjust the length yourself.

You can buy the belt on a big drum if you want a lifetime supply!

i see ASAP sell it, and the tool, but probably at special yachtsman's prices though..
