Bradwell. Burnham or Benfleet

Ladies and Gents,

We are due to relocate back to Essex early 2016 property permitting but Likely Burnham although not set in stone. We are relocating our Jenneau 40 from Terracina, Italy as well probably by road in April next year.

Boat has a 1.95 metre draft with a fin keel with bulb.

The obvious choice is Burnham but the other two have some great points. Bradwell was a great time many years ago as a youngster and is so very tempting.

Any recommendations

Hi Elsie,

With your draft, Bradwell becomes more or less a half tide port which will restrict your comings and goings a bit and I believe Benfleet will be worse, butI've not been thee for decades. Crouch harbours and moorings will deal with your draft at all states of the tide and will be closer to home if you end up living in Burnham although Bradwell's not that long a drive (I did it daily for about 10 years) Southminster always seems to be blocked up these days.

On the other hand, the Crouch plus the Whitakker channel seems like a very long ditch when you want to go anywhere from Burnham by sea - my solution is to keep the boat in Levington, but she's away for most of the summer, so I don't burn too much fuel on the A12.

Burnham Yacht Harbour have a £400 introduction scheme. I am sure if you decide you want to go to Burnham, someone will help you. The monies go to the introducer , but I believe most would then return a significant amount to yourself.

Have a look at North Fambridge - We have a 2.7 metre draft and berthed there last month - nice marina with good security.

Ladies and Gents must admit the two new proposals re locations we had not considered and I must say the Levington is becoming a better option. When in Italy w here about 1 hour from the marina and if I am honest I did work well

We are in Burnham for 3 week for work d to sot a house out in Mid Jan2016 so will def have a look around then. This id cause a domestic

I think you will find that 40 ftrs will have a job getting a berth at bradwell..
As boats get bigger the old style berths cannot cope with the beam
