I am always up the creek, and usually without a paddle.
Centaurpipedream could have done with a paddle the other week having failed to get up the creek. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I see from an earlier post that you expect to arrive about 1800. With a 1.6 draft that is optimistic - it maybe nearer to 1900 before you attempt to plough the creek (it is very soft).
It didn't sound very soft when I was plowing it with the egg whisk on the bottom of Sirenia last year.
We had 0.4m of water in places.
It was LW Springs /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
So is the BBQ evening rather than lunchtime? Or is it all afternoon? Or am I getting extra confused. We have to decide whether to get a dog-sitter, bring the dog with us, stay overnight etc etc. I'm hoping with an 83cm draught we should be able to squeeze in and out easily enough but don't want to miss out on the fun! If we do make it, are we likely to have direct walk-on shore access (dog issues again, she doesn't do well in the dinghy!)
Please bring the dog!.... I have two rug rats that will do anything to spend an hour or two throwing sticks for a dog... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif... I can promise you one exhausted pooch!!!!
Yes Bradwell is full walk ashore access (although the finger pontoons do have in places some metal grating that might not be ideal for a dog... but unlikely to affect you as your width will probably put you in the berths that are still wood surfaced). There is also loads of room for the dog to let some steam off....
All the pontoons now have metal gratings. At least you don't trip up nails sticking out or, as I did at SYH, jump off the boat and go straight through a plank!
Sounds good! Lucy Locket will love to have some more people to play with and she'll happily chase sticks although utterly refuses to give them back afterwards. She's a useful disposal facility for any remaining barbecue items too, although we then get to re-dispose of them from the hall carpet the next morning.
We'll ring Bradwell to warn them we're coming and that we're fatties to make sure we get a spot we can squeeze into. It will be a great start to our East Coast Sailing in the new semi-retired lifestyle of the Chellers family now we're Essex inhabitants. Looking forward to meeting you all - and your boats!

[/ QUOTE ]Hee hee.... we had a dog (sadly departed last year after a good long innings) that exhibited a similar lack of decency in returning the stick, so they're well used to that... they however have (and IMHO quite remarkably) trained the cat to fetch and she does bring the item back!!!!!!... but like most cats, will clearly decide when she's had enough by either just walking off or by turning her back on them..... the dog would keep going until she was physically unable to walk /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
