Bradwell BBQ Saturday 3rd May

I intend to be there.

Last time I got out of Bradwell at the bottom of the tide (1.0m)
I think that I dug a new channel doing so.

Out of the Deben about 8ish.
Should be there about 2ish.
 
These rumours need to be quashed immediately. It isn't true ok, it just isn't /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
I'd like to think I could make it. I'll have to try and sort out my tides coming up from the medway. Think it would be an early one for me..

All you guys that are familiar with the Swin, how much water is there either side of high water??.. I draw 1.6m

(Just edited this post as looking at an online chart thing, I should have enough water at most of the tide apart from spot on LW.)
 
Mmm, well HW at sheerness is around 1141 on the 3rd so it might not be such an early start but I'd be getting there rather late... (*thinking*..Leave Gillingham at 0830, punch tide down Medway, get ebb up the coast, get to swin about 1500, arrive Bradwell about 1800).. so I'd prob be meeting you guys in the Bar!!.. well, no harm in that I spose.. ha ha
 
Hello you lot - I'm back (bronzed and not broke and all ready for summer - bring it on!!!!!!).

The date's in the diary.

There is an earlier thread about Bradwell tidal heights. Basically - coming in there is a tidal gauge on the North cardinal post at the start of the creek. You will lose 3 feet in the creek between the middle sets of cans/withies and after that there is lots of water incl over the cill.

2.5 hours either side for a 1.7 draft.
 
Hurrah, found out I have a berth at Bradwell yesterday so will escape the nice but muddy waters of Lawling Creek. Really nice bunch of blokes in the yard in maylandsea but just not enough water to make day sailing viable. Hope they get their dredging sorted.

Hopefully I will persuade my essex mate he fancies a bit of sailing followed by a pint. Just need to get Grayling in a fit state to go back in the water.
 
Mentioned this to Mick at the bar who is more than happy to provide BBQ services, or we bring our own food, and he provides charcoal, spuds, salad etc or or or etc. just needs to know. He said disposables weren't allowed on the grass (marina office call, not his) and to let him know numbers etc, so roll call ..................
 
We used disposables last time...... but i'm not that fussed.... if he's prepared to provide the facilities, including a few side dishes etc, that'd work for me..... we ended up in the marina bar anyway.... with, if I remember correctly, Patrick (of Vreny fame) asleep in the corner..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Two here too! We've now moved house to a village outside Colchester and are planning to bring Chellers up from Sovereign Harbour next weekend. A Bradwell Barbecue will be a good introduction to the East Coast Forum Sailing Events!
 
Just turn up - there's loads of boats still on the hard and they'll fit you no trouble.

If you haven't seen my previous offerings on the subject then bear in mind that the creek is the shallowest part and you will lose 3 feet from the depth shown on the height guage on the north cardinal post at the entrance to the creek. If you can get up the creek then you can easily get into the marina.
 
I am always up the creek, and usually without a paddle.
Centaurpipedream could have done with a paddle the other week having failed to get up the creek. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
 
Yes.... there is a cardinal just past the wall... leave that to port too (but not much!), and then follow the bouys and withies in... make sure you leave the starboard marker to starboard where the channel does a sharp right... it seems to be very far over, and catches many unwary sailors out!!!.... actually, its a very easy channel to follow, just not very deep!
