If you are not riding to hounds or following your Boxing Day Hunt (lol) you might be interested to listen to BBC Radio 4, 1100 - 1130 Cape Horners' Farewell

And miss the start of the Sydney to Hobart race, I don't think so.....

do they start races at 10pm out there?

perhaps that's why i saw so few boats on the water around melbourne last weekend.

And if one wants another cruising/race contradiction, the Sydney Hobart race is actually run by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

In case of interest the official site is http://rolexsydneyhobart.com/default.asp. There are several UK boats in the race including one chartered by the Commodore of the RORC (chartered boat is also called Bounder as is his own) and is looking for a handicap win.

Unfortunately, again, there is only one NZ boat in it that I know of and that is the 30m super maxi Zana looking for line honours, but has special interest as owned and recently built here in Wellington - her first race.
