Having had a drone (DJI phantom) for several months now I would say there are a couple of problems flying one from a moving boat. Firstly there are just too many obstacles (rigging, mast etc.) and secondly they have to be absolutely stable and stationary when calibrating themselves prior to takeoff. Saying that, they are fantastic flown from the shore when at anchor.
For moving boat shots I would say a kite wins hands down.
