Bowthruster - installation cost?

Had a verbal quote from Windjammer Marine in Milford for labour only of £800-900. Parts from Lewmar would be about £1200, so about £2k or a little over. This for a 37ft boat.

Some of the prices being quoted seem very cheap, must agree with pheran, get the most powerfull you can afford, you will be gratefull for that in a bad wind, other things to consider, haul out ,ground rent ,epoxy, electrician,A good boat builder I know allows 15- 20 hours worth of work to install one propperly, deppending on boat,( bigger generally being easier }Slipener pretty good, the remote is great. For short handed ,with a difficult to handel boat in confined spaces, they are a god send to get you out of trouble, you will find that normally try to manouver with out using it , but knowing its there takes a lot of pressure off
good luck.

Yes I absolutely agree as they both have the same size tunnel, the 80 is just a twin prop with a bigger motor.

In, say, a 32 ft when choosing between a 40 and a 60, the choice is much harder as the 40 only has a 125mm tunnel. This means you can get it further forward which makes it more effective as the lever is bigger............
