Bow thruster weak

Do you mean voltage, rather than current? Check the connections in the 12v heavy duty box in the aft cabin wardrobe, sounds like a poor connection somewhere. In particular, it's worth checking that you're not getting a voltage drop over the isolator switch mounted in the very bottom of the box. And if you're getting a voltage drop at the bowthruster motor, check the other side of the solenoid in case it's that.

Yes voltage. I will see if I can make sense of this. Is the solenoid by the thruster?

Also when it packed up I think it overheated. Thruster box smelt warm. Not sure if that leaves a route to consider?

Ok if you have a suspect - ie the seolenoid then measure the voltage across the in and the out of this when operating it should be 0v or very near. Try the wire, then the bolt and see if there is any difference.
If it was the solenoid itself I think it likely that it would effect one direction only so it’s likely to be a corroded connection. If they are accessible, take them off one by one, sand them and the pillar shiny and do then back up nice and tight.
The fact that there is significant volt drop between battery and thruster is pointing to a cheap fix - you just have to find it.
Whatever has the resistance will have got hot during your thrustfest so as there is evidence of this that might help tracing the actual dodgy joint - which is what my money is on now.
