Bow Thruster size

Another battery yes, but a 12/12 charging system works fine, only taking power when it is spare. Don't forget that whilst the BT takes a lot of power it is only for a short period so does not make to much demand on a battery.

So that means they are still limited to a short period of operation? So the day you are blown on hard and relying on it to get you off it might decide half way through it has had enough? Wait ten minutes and try again :o

Yes, pretty much, some peeps have got hydraulic ones, they're more expensive but don't use battery power and don't heat up. Much as I like our bowthruster it's nice to see some people sticking to the old ways.

I'm on the other side of bridge watching this, before going for a beer at the SXM yacht club!!!!

A bow thruster won't help you out if you bugger up the approach though, and they don't work when you are going forward at 4kts+ either!

Don't rely on thrusters to pull you out of the sh*t, get your approach speed right. Although that bridge can be a bit tricky when the wind is from the wrong direction.
