Bow thruster quirk

About half the time that I turn on the bow thruster it shows as being "on" (green LED) but does not operate. It then often turns itself off (two long beeps and LED goes out).

I have established that what temporarily fixes the problem is if I turn off and then turn on the two bow thruster breaker switches on the breaker switch panel. The bow thruster then works.

As an aside (and this may be normal) I've noticed that when I use the bow thruster the volts on one of the engine batteries drops below 14V then very quickly returns to 14V.

Any theory on what the problem is?

Could be faulty temperature sensor or corroded connections to the sensor?
Voltage drop using a high powered device is normal.

Thanks Martyn, is the temperature sensor typically attached to the bow thruster motor itself?

I may have the instruction booklet for it but don't recall if I do for certain.

It would need to be yes.
Instructions online perhaps?

When you apply any high electrical loads such as this it will take a substantial amount of current draw to spin the thruster up to speed and this draws heavily off the batteries and it takes a little while to recharge the batteries and the worst offenders are those who continually buzz their thrusters as they are continually stop starting them.
