Bow Thruster Gremlin

Sitting enjoying a quiet Sunday morning on our berth we were startled by the bow thruster suddenly and without any warning kicking into action and then continuing to do sporadically. Even when starting the engines the same problem occured. In the end I had to disable to Bow Thruster completely - has anyone had any similar problems - I have looked at a new switch but having seen the price thought i'd better look at alternatives ...... Just to add the current Joystick is a QL make

Yes, exactly the same happened to us. Faced with £120 or so for a replacement from VP, I replaced it with a waterproof industrial joystick from RS...

If you dont mind not having a joystick you can fit a Carling V series momentary-momentary rocker switch, for about £6. Mounted sideways. Many big Italian boats have this set up OEM, and it's one of the switch options in the Vetus catalogue
