I have encountered a number of little gifts from the previous owners of my hulk - down to bare deck now. So have found that when the geniuses dropped it on the bow (removed inboard and then kedged it - unbalanced) they caused damge to the deck at the bow - it lifted and cracked - this in itself would not have been a problem accept that they have not heard of resealing. So now I have a rotting wooden insert under my bow - beyond salvation. I am going to have to cut out the deck - any suggestions on how to go about rebuilding this lot - there seems to be a wee fibreglass lip that the remains of the wood is resting on on. I am thinking take angle grinder or similar impliment of destruction and cut away the deck, lift the existing disaster and epoxy in the new wood - sounds too easy, so I am suspicious

It sounds like you have got your head around the repair. I have used a 125mm diamond wheel as used for tile cutting and found it produces a lot less dust. I have also seen an abrasive rod type blade for use in a jigsaw which a friend said was good to use on fibreglass.
A google search for West Systems epoxy should find their website that has tips for all sorts of repairs such as this.

westsystem .com I think

Good luck
