Bow and stern thrusters does not function for starboard

Hi all,

On my Sealine SC38 I have Max-Power bow thruster and Sidepower stern thruster. Bow thruster works on joystick and from Sidepower remote control. Stern thruster works only from remote control.

So the joystick and remote works only for port side. When I press the button I can hear a clicking sound from both thrusters but the motor does not work.

Any suggestions? Does anybody know where the Sidepower control box would be?

If you hear clicking but no motor running,that normally means the solenoids are not engaging properly to allow the current to flow. Seems odd that both should fail so i think you need to start a process of testing an elimination. Check all wiring connections are sound and go from there.

Hi Keith,

I checked all the wires and connections and gave them some WD40 and Voila. Both are working now. Interestingly I did first the BT and it started working. After that ST and it did too. What a coincidence they both did not work to starboard! Well boating is coincidences.

I had same issue with my bow thruster, connections all looked good, batteries were fully charged etc, but there was what looked like the tiniest amount of oxidation on the battery positive terminal, that was stopping enough current to cause the solenoid not to engage fully. Took me a while to find it, will be the first thing I check if I get that again ?

Same problem on my Swift Trawler. Sprayed the terminals and batteries with grease and it all worked again.
