was at boulters lock last weekend and noticed that the hotel / pub on the lock is all now boarded up. Anyone know if its being redeveloped or demolished
seems a shame, as I reckon that place could be a right goldmine in the right hands. Perfect location for a restaurant and bar for both boaters and public.
Sat up on the balcony last summer for a few drinks and was a lovely location, but we both thought it could do with updating
I was never fond of the place I found it pretentious and pricey for food of Little Chef standard. Their pontoons were a death trap too unless you were good at skidding.
I understood that it was due to be developed as flats, but certainly not first hand.
Agree with Byron that it never quite seemed to make the grade as a restaurant and the mooring was certainly enough to put me off.
Some of the annex and meeting rooms have been converted to flats.
There is tremendous potential for a good restaurant there but charging high rates doesn't automatically make it good. A bit of style, a reasonable chef and a good mooring should do the trick.
