For what its worth, I see that Boston Marina is up for sale with Christies. 53 moorings leased from British Waterways, chandlery, house and a lease on the pub. I can't remember all the details but something over £700k.
Thank god at last there is a post north of the Orwell. I began to think I was the only person in a northerly direction. I have posted in reply to many a topic on this forum and been ignored. perhaps I wear the wrong deoderant or maybe us northerners dont count. Please talk to me woodyp as no one else here seems to want to
Ahem /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Paul ? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I'm just South of Boston, Spalding in fact, and apart from one other (BastonJock) I was starting to think I might have to migrate South /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Boston marina though, has been badly run for years, though not entirely the fault of the owner, I don't think the price is going to attract anyone that could turn it around
There are some members of this forum based there though
But I'll talk to you /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
..... and yet another 'northerner'. Our boat is moored at Fosdyke, just up the Welland from the Wash and very near Boston. I keep a regular watch on the East Coast Forum because we often cruise 'darn sarf' in our holidays, so can pick up very useful information, but I do not have the local knowledge to contribute positively or the proximity to join in events. However, for the Wash and North Norfolk coast, that would be a different matter. Lowestoft is also a regular port of call when journeying to and from the south, so we know it well. So, yes, here's another who will talk to you!
Hi Paul, was up in Boston a couple of weeks ago having drinks with Joe (JKay) but you chose to go sailing off to Wells that day, bad timing on my part but hope to remedy that soon /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Selling the house and chandlery to developers seems to be a popular move up there, I noticed the warehouse near the lock has been converted to flats. Not somewhere I would want to live but each to their own I suppose.
Hope you have your passport if you are coming to Suffolk! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Any updates on Wells being dredged etc in preparation for the Wash windfarm work?
Oh, and where do you moor? The main run, Sluice Creek?
D
my passprt is in order, ill need it for the following weekend as im off to Antigua,SWIMBO was top sales,so her company is sending us both to Antigua for a business trip, the trial of it all /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The good ship "Glissando" is moored at buxtons bight, its about as close to the lifeboat station as you can get,it has the advantage of longer sea time, but the dissadvantage of muddy mooring.
my plan for BKH wekend is to leave friday night, drop the hook somewhere to the south,up early sat morning and sail south, stop over for sat night and return on sunday for mondays morning/afternoon HW.
no more info at present on wells being dredged
forecast is looking good for it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I usually talk to you /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hello Lowestoft based types - any info on a stopover before heading across the North Sea would be useful. Last time we visited the RNSYC from the sea was when we brought our previous boat round from Wells to the Orwell in 1998!
Presume they would be able to accommodate a one or two night stop with a little advance warning.
We normally carry red wine on board too.
And according to SWMBO, I will talk to anything and anyone!
Strange.
Yes I Know I'm sorry. I think us northerners will have to have a liitle sub forum. Christ I have to take a boat from Brundall down to Wolverstone tomorrow, do you think I wll get Shot???? I see your orf to Ostend at the weekend Doug, We're Taking Pirate accross again next Saturday.
Abp have recently opened a new marina to the north and east of the bridge. So you are spoilt for choice. There is the RNSYC on one hand the new hamilton dock or come through the bridge and see us at the Haven My good lady wife also says that I talk to any one!!!!!! I don't really.
A dozen or so boats from the marina are having a bit of acruise up to the North Scroby and then into yarmouth and up to the Berney Arms for the night. We'll nkeep a lookout for you!!! but do you really want to go up the beach!!!!!!
He was not about at the weekend either!
I'm off back to Lincoln on Friday via the beer festival and band at the White Horse,Dunston Fen
In the word of a californian Govenor"I'll Be Back"
Bostonia I'll miss you
Hi Paul,
I'm another one at Fosdyke Haven, and more than happy to have a chat next time I call into Lowestoft, and share a drink or two.
Trying not to drift the fred too far from Boston Marina, anybody got any views on the new lock to link into the South Forty Foot Drain. Its going to be a git to get into from what I can see, because of its location, and will anybody want to go there?
If the Fen Rivers link is ever funded to completion it may make sense but until then its just a dead end.
George
Hi George
Sounds like we will eventually bump into each other (figure of speech only) as I intend stopping at Fosdyke when I launch, before moving further around the coast to Wells. Another one that's not far from me (Spalding) so could end up with right good gathering soon.
The plans for the link that I've seen seem to be aimed more at narrowboats than anything else, so my inlaws will be happy.
You will be most welcome at RNSYC, I don’t think we ever turn anyone away, but a word of warning the Dragons have a meeting this Bank Holiday Weekend and it will be busy,.
The powers that be have closed our car park to us members unless racing a Dragon and no one even bothered to ask us!!!!! On the plus side it should be a great atmosphere with a bustling bar.
07.30 Friday morning I am off down south to bother the Suffolk, Essex boys for a week stopping at Levington for a lift and Prop swap, then off to the wilds of Burnham and the Crouch, followed by The Blackwater and the Backwaters. Poor Essex lads won’t know what has hit them as I will have 4 Grandchildren on board, but like you I also carry plenty of red wine and a couple of bottles of port, in our case to deaden the sound and enhance sleep.
My berth C12 will be free, so ask Alfie for it as I have a shed load of leckie on the meter.
