Bosch GHO20-82 planer

Nice light weight piece of kit! I use one for jobbing. The only down side is the single blade, you won't get a perfect finish, so you will probably want to buy a sander in addition or spend a bit more and get a double blade one.

Shame the generator ( pure sine wave for all the variable speed tools on board, btw?) determines the tool..

You've got a point there but although Makita power tools are very good (I have a couple of Makita drills and an orbital sander) the planer you recommend is a lot more expensive than the Bosch. Add the price of a new generator . . :)

The Makita looks good but, as far as I can see, the price doesn't include a carrying case, dustbag and fence; which the Bosch GHO 20-82 does.

I know, I know..
I still have my old Elu from 19?88 but it is so bloody heavy...and quite noisy by comparison..
I use my Bosch jigsaw on the boat, the inverter isn't quite pure sinewave and it is noticeable.. But the Honda generator thinghy is the dogs..

I don't think it does.I doesn't make a lot of difference to me because I always throw the carrying cases away but the dust bag is useful. It's however a lot of money for a bag and a case.
