Just been on a weeks holiday bought for me by my beloved. She decided I needed some culture injections so it was a painting holiday (not back bedroom) in Perpignan.

Highly recommended and very relaxing.

After producing a handful of future masterpieces we decided we needed a diversion so first we went to watch Perpignan stuff Dax - very entertaining. Those Catalans love their rugby.

Then, feeling the effects of no boat fix for anumber of weeks we went off to the boatyard. It was filled with a load of old tat that looked ready to be scrapped. Unusually though it seemed that most of the boats were actually being worked on.

This one is going to be very pretty when all the work is done (what are all the little wooden plugs for?)

Although this mobo looks as though it is aluminium it is constructed of ply which didn't look that robust to me.

Wher's Jane?

Seeing a few boats wasn't enough so we decided to hire one for the day. SWMBO seemed quite happy about it..

We went to Imperia Brava (sp?) and set off for the wide open.....

By now you may have spotted that there is something wrong with this boat. It only had one engine and was apparantly supposed to move with wind power. Any way we set off up the coast bound for Cadeques (sp?) and put the sails up. About 2 months later we arrived at one of the prettiest places I have ever seen from the water.

Then we did some more painting. The pink bouncy castle on the right is me.

Then it was off into town for a fantastic lunch,

At the end of the day we sailed into a superb sunset, very happy.

The following day we flew home into a blizzard.

Nice post to cheer up the masses back here with it pis, piss, persistently raining and cutting wind at 7 degrees.

Don't be too hard on ply boats, second word war MTB's were made of ply and some are still afloat today as house boats!

[(what are all the little wooden plugs for?)]

How to restore a wooden boat:
1.Drill hole
2.put screw in
3.bang in long wooden plug to hide head of screw
4.chop off head of wooden plug with chisel
5.tadaaaah nice flush wooden surface.
x500

or screw in 500 screws, and plug with 500 dowels as in your picture
