us good old boys we bin around
used to mechanic for gary bryan, triumph twin in side cars then weslake conversions and then we were going to do the grand prix circuit with weslake. oulton park came along (our local ) and total and utter pile up, pat sheridan and passenger gone, gary's passenger gone, gary paraplegic but he went on to fame in the battle of the twins where he used to trounce the works dukes ( he built)

then saudi beckoned and the oil field
and yes that smell of castrol r still brings back memories

leaving the oil filter loose might make sense sometimes. My MD2 refused to get oil pressure up after a winter when I'd left no oil in the engine. The MD2 has its oil pump above the sump so any oil in the pump drained back into the sump. I refilled the engine with oil and cranked - but no oil pressure.
I managed to get the front of the oil pump off and poured a little into the pump to prime it - it worked but it might have been simpler to loosen the filter.
Yeah - I know - I should have refilled the engine immediately.
To return to the point that 'crazy' idea might make sense if you have a problem

Dropped a 499 matchless metisse (bored 7R) at oulton, unconscious for a week, woke up with the vicar sitting next to me, wasn't expected to survive, end of my racing days!!
