Came back from Orford and Border Force 'Alert' was calling up several yachts and asking for details, where from, where to, persons on board etc etc. I think they were off the Deben as we saw a black rib with several people on board. First time I've heard this on the VHF.

So now we know who to call for a radio check, then? ;)

Saw them burning down the Solent Saturday early afternoon so have been getting about and enjoying the bank holiday by the looks of it.

Nice rib and a cheery wave as they blasted westward out of Cowes. Any idea why two operators in full gear inc white helmets and two crew wearing just LJs? Also, there was a helo and what looked like a spotter plane in the viscinity.

They visited the club last year and gave us similar information which basically as far as I recall amounted to “Dial 101 and mention code word “Kraken”.
Well, some while later we saw something odd and tried to call. After waiting a very long time for an answer the code word elicited no useful response.
I remain unconvinced that anyone is taking any notice!!

I imagine that using the project name as a code word just makes it easier for the call centre folk to work out where to send the report, as it won’t be something they get every day. Not intended as a secret access code.
But if it was me I would pick a word that was going to be easier to look up in the internal phone book. Wanna bet things get lost or sent over to cybercrime because the operator heard someone yammering about “project cracking”?
