Border Control in Calais

Hey guys,

I just arrived in calais last night from the uk.

Being an Australian citizen I need to go through French customs to get a stamp in my passport.

Does anyone know where to go in Calais?

I have been to the ferry terminal and they pointed me in the direction of he French police on the docks who then pointed me back to the ferry terminal who then sent me to the Calais police station who still could not help.

Any advice would be great!!!!
 
Forget about it fly your yellow and leave it to them to come to you you have done as much has can be reasonably expected. Perhaps the next port will be better equipped, try a Belgian one especially if you have some red diesel you should have no difficulty in locating the douane.:D

Was there no French border control/customs check on the UK side?
There is when you travel by Eurotunnel (my usual mode of transport when travelling to the continent).
That would have been the place to ask.

No there is no check when I left the UK or on arrival to France. I asked when I departed ramsgate and was told that they would do a customs check on arrival to Calais.

I'm actually in the middle of prepping to de-mast and cruise from here to the Med through the canals.

I just don't want to get caught out at the next coutnry like Spain or Italy...

Way back, when issues like this were involved, I found the Douanes and licked their boots. Small contributions to the widows & dépendants fund were 'acceptable' to ease the paperwork, then cruised through.
More recently, looking for a customs stamp for Mrs DW, like you a non EU cit. we had to visite Gib on our way, as the only non EU place to get a stamp at the time.
But really, there must have been a douane at your port of entry to get the stamp.

We only get 90 days in the Schengen zone so I don't want to have an issue in the next Schengen country I visit, not having an entry stamp.

I was sure that somebody would have stopped us on the way in, but no... I'm in Calais for a few days so I guess I'll just see if anyone turns up...
 
When we first arrived in France by boat (2003) the Douaniers came over without asking (at Rouen). Finding the Calais Douane office (at 70 Rue Mollien at the southern end of the harbour chain not far from the canal entrance) shouldn't be too difficult . . . are you berthed in the port? - ask at the port capitainerie.

Hi Grehan,

We are currently in the marina here. I just just googled that address you have given and it looks like the place. So I should be able to head there and they can sort it out?

No one in the marina is being too helpful...
 
Why not dress up in Middle Eastern outfit and wander about looking lost.
When you are picked up just say you were returning from a fancy dress party and couldn't find your way back to the marina and as they point you in the right direction,ask them if they could possibly stamp your passport!!
