Was thinking about going this year. Any good?

One of the things I am looking for is a sail track and slides for a wooden mast. Anybody any ideas about what is the best option for smooth running and reliability?

The most common is aluminium track and normal plastic sail slides. No different in principle from similar track used in aluminium masts and uses the same slides. I have it on my mast and it has been there for over 50 years and still works fine. Keep it clean and spray the slides from time to time.

You could always try the Tides marine track ,it's easy to retro fit on most masts ,usually with another set of fixings .
It makes it a real easy job to drop the sail and stow it .

Will have a look at the tides track. It's for a new wooden mast.

Just back from the Dusseldorf boatshow and although I hate to say it as a Brit, it was excellent. Big, all encompassing and well laid out. Not as good as the old London boatshow with pond and levels but still, it reminded me of that. Certainly better than recent London and Amsterdam shows. I managed to get answers and see and buy everything I wanted to.

On a partisan positive note, I thought the best looking yacht on show was the Spirit yacht.

I'll sign on with the idiot, too. There were some great seminars by world travelled people dotted around which was also a superb idea.
