I'm fettling an elderly Proctor boom, and while the painting has gone well ( thank you, Andrews ), I'm stumped by the options for re-reeving lines.
The end-moulding with 3 lock-levers is straightforward..... 3 lines, optimally for 3 reef pen'ants.
It's the after end that puzzles me. The lugs for mainsheet and topping-lift are obvious. A simple outhaul also will fit on the upper/latter. The 2 lateral sheeves will feed First and Second Reef clew lines into the boom and forward to the before-mentioned jammers at the front. There are fittings on the sides of the boom in appropriate places to 'turn' the reef pen'ants aft, with 45° pull.
There remain 2 other sheaves, each of which could take a line from above the boom down into the boom and forward..... but there's only one 'spare' jammer at the front.
The boom itself has no other exit hole....
'Four into three will not go'..... or am I missing something that should be obvious?
