Books for eastcoasters

"Under The Cabin Lamp" ordered and heading to Santa for delivery at Xmas.

Sorry to resurrect yet another old thread but this is highly relevant for those who want a copy of "Under the Cabin Lamp" as there aren't many second-hand copies around at the moment.

'“We all have our own stories and topics,” says the author, “and here are a few of mine.” They carry with them the smell of salt water and the ocean wind, these tales of London’s river and Thames mouth, of the Suffolk coast, of Cowes and the Solent, of Devon, and Cornish waters — tales, too, of adventure into Broadland, of cruising and racing and of stormy passages and peaceful havens.'

I often see Nick out on his boat. I met him for the first time last week in Bradwell where he was complaining about the disappearance of the washing machine since the refurb. His wife has just washed a sleeping bag by hand and he needed it dry for that night. Some hope!

The following evening he was a couple of boats away in Brightlingsea - I kept my head down! Having met him I wouldn't buy his books.

:D

I know Nick too through RNSA (he was in the Royal Fleet Auxillary) and usually see him a couple of times a year at various meets. I was sent a copy of one of his books to review for the RNSA Journal a few years ago, it may even have been Mudlarking. I did try to read it but could not get interested in it at all. I passed it on to another member to read and write the review - I have never seen it reviewed!!
