Hi all

Here are a few photos to prove that its ACTUALLY true - there IS actually a sun !!!

We even got here in time to refuel for our big day tommorow - crossing the infamous Bay of Biscay.

Here's the skipper taking weather advice from a local restaurant expert - or at least that what he said he was !!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

After settling JennyWren for the night - we had a fabulous "Al Fresco" dinner - again advice from our "on board" restaurant gormet (that's french for someone who talks a load of ?ollocks about food)

Tomorrow.
Weather - forecast as flat calm for Biscay - one crew member thinks it will be "flatter than a flat thing". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The plan now is to arrive in Gijon late Monday evening and refuel first thing Tuesday - hopefully moving on to Bayona Tuesday evening/Wednesday.

To be continued........

Well done, what's Benodet like? Also been sunny and warm in the W country today, felt like summer at long last.

Hope the rest of the trip goes smoothly.

Dead jealous!! Benodet is my favourite place on earth, I've had four wonderful holidays there. It's the place I want to retire to, if I can ever afford it. I've cycled along that high level bridge over the River Odet - it's a steeper climb than it looks in the pic. Thanks for the memories.

Nice one Mike - got a text from Derek in the Chenel du Four proclaiming how flat it was. Hope the weather holds for the rest of the trip. You're probably in the bay now I guess /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I agree - I'm after buying a place in the Benodet area.

A fabulous spot to stop with Jenny Wren. Good luck crossing Biscay Hurricane.

Many amongst us dream about a trip like this, only few can afford or have the time to do so.
While we up North eat our heart out, I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it ! Hope the rest of the trip goes well.

God I'm jealous /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

By the way, how "rough" was rough in the Mid Channel ?

Just heard from Derek - they've crossed the bay and are now in Gijon, on the fuel berth ready to fuel smartish in the morning. Zero wind where they are, very flat. Bit lumpy in the middle of the bay, but nothing too bad, he says.

Plan to fuel in the morning and skip La Coruna, and aim for Bayona I think he said?.

Rick

Thanks for the update.

This is simply wonderful. I'm enjoying this journey unfolding before my eyes. Hope the trip continues to be trouble free and as pleasurable as it sounds.

I wish Hurricane fair winds and calm seas. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hi Mike surely you havent got the range to go straight across?, I think its about 350nm. The Fairline 50 made it 3/4 290nm keeping to 10 knts

By the time this story gets to a Wokingham meet, he will have carried the necessary 'embelishment' and it will have been a full gale and high seas! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great trip and the story's getting better daily, keep them coming chaps. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
