Bombard AX2 (3yrs old) keeps going down, no sign of any punctures, rather suspect the seal on the built in bellow pumps!

Anyone had the same problem?
Anyone know if seals can be replaced?

Thanks

Stu

I have an old AX2, the bellows have a screw in the centre of them to 'park' them when not in use. I find they will deflate if this is not tight.

I need a repair kit for mine, but I don't know what it is made from to chose the correct kit. Hypalon or PVC? One pack or two pack???

I can beat you all as my AX2 is now a very venerable 16 years old... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

According to this page (http://marinestore.co.uk/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=glues-for-inflatables) Bombards are PVC or Polyurethane...

Second the comment about the screw in the middle of the bellows, other than that check the plugs are screwed tight on the main inflation points??

If that doesn't fix it then it's blow it up, paint on soapy water, and look for bubbles...??

Thanks for those thoughts, I have kept everything tight but at the top of the pump bellows there seems to be a rubber ring (seal) that appears stretched. The trouble is I can't see how it can be replaced

I have an AX2 with built in bellows, which is about 5 years old. It gets used a lot, as my boat is on a swinging mooring. It has incurred a number of punctures, both big and small, due to the rough launching places I have used. It is PVC, and you should use PVC type glue. Polymarine (google it) sell everything you need. Two-part glue is infinitely superior, and will give a permanent repair. However, you will need to carry a repair kit containing one-part glue for running repairs, although these should only be regarded as temporary. It is worth oiling the valve diaphragms with vegetable oil. I have found it very difficult to find pinprick size holes, even using the soapy water routine. You just have to persevere. I haven't had any problem with the bellows, but you must keep them screwed up tight.

We have had ours for longer than that! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif check where the transom meets the hull, thats where ours leaks.
