Thanks for all the advice - when I take it out on the water I makes sure it is clamped tightly and zip tie the two screws together.

I know that you were not particularly aiming at security from theft, but rather than zip ties you could put a padlock between the two screw handles. Might stop someone wandering off with the o/b while you're at the services, say.

(If you do so, don't forget to keep the padlock lubricated: you don't want it seizing up and you get the challenge of getting the padlock or screw handles off!)

Thanks for the advice - I'll try to find a good pad to clamp things down, will padlock the clamps together, and make sure I have a good tether in case it happens to come loose. I appreciate the ideas!
