Bolougne calling!

Neil

Must have been a speedy crossing hope it improves for you later in the week. We have Family visiting from Sat they were looking forward to a few days sailing fingers crossed it lets up a bit.
Now off to clear up the garage after this mornings flooding

God i luv summer

I often get wind in France - must be the water or the garlic /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Have a good trip - getting a bit stir crazy here - the end of this week looks great (here) but can't get out until Monday by which time............

I got back from that coast at 6am this morning after 18 hours from Newport. Looks like I was very lucky given the winds the few days before it, and the forecasts.

Got into the lock when the drizzle was coming down, and zero wind. Very easy to moor. Went to sleep and woke up an hour later to find boat being thrown around in 30 to 40 mph wiinds. Smug feeling of getting this particular passage planning right!

If this is summer, think I take up winter sailing instead.

I feel for you guys crossing the channel, what has happened to our summer? I had sold the dog and daughter to the outlaws this week so that I could sail. Harrumph! MAybe I can convince them to keep them for the weekend as well.

Neil, hurry up and get back mate, once your holiday is over the weather is bound to improve for the rest of us /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Already done that Peter... it is a very pretty little town.... and despite the blustery weather, a walk around the ramparts was very enjoyable.

Also took the kids to the sea life centre/aquariam today... to say we were impressed is an understatement.... a truly world class facility, that deserves its reputation as one of the best aquariums in Europe....

Looks like we'll be here until Friday.... in the very heavily sheltered marina we are measuring 35kts at present, and even the fishing fleet have stayed in port... walking down to the sea front and it looks truly horrendous out at sea.... should be less windy tomorrow by quite some margin, but leaving it until Friday to let the sea calm down a bit.....

Neil,

The fish restaurant in the sealife center is superb I think its got a michelin * but not ludicrously expensive (at least when i went there last), if you have saved up enough to give everyone a treat because of the weather, give the fruit de mer a try.

Hi Neil,

we're in Oostende enjoying the same conditions! Planning to leave for Burnham early on Friday

We have explored the Coast Tram system centred on Oostende - great service covering the whole coast from France to Netherlands.

currently we have a berth next to the RNSYC and have received mooring advice & guidance from Robert!

Oostende is a good town and we have enjoyed being "stuck" here for some days.

Hope the rest of your trip goes well for you

Neil - we're going to head for Oostend on Friday or Saturday. Looks like a small break in the weather! Good luck and maybe we'll see you over there...
