Hi, Will be arriving mid July in Corfu and i'm looking for a cheap but reliable boatyard where i can leave the yacht for ten months or so. A friendly one where the owner does'nt mind giving some advice in return for a beer would be ideal. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Judging by the lack of any response in the 2 hours since your posting I think you can gather that what you are looking for is something of a challenge. Gouvia is an excellent marina/yard but offers solent pricing.

The yard between Gouvia and Kerkyra ( name escapes me for the moment ) is much more reasonable but not 'cheap' and the facilities are basic to say the least.

I had to check the calendar when I read this query. I thought we had time travelled back to April 1.

We decided that Gouvia was too expensive so we sailed south to Preveza where there are two boatyards that are a bit cheaper. Cleopatra Marina and Preveza Marine.

They also have a charter airport very close (summer only though, and a bit pricey in comparison to Easyjet).

We are happy so far.

Regards,
Robin

Go further south. For a truly ethnic experience, try the yards just north of Nidri, on Levkas. Pull out by sled and store ashore. You'll need to look after the batteries somehow though . . . someone will keep them on charge for you.

For a truly economical solution pull onto the mud in Tranquil bay, and get someone to visit the boat occasionally to make sure it's not sinking and all is still working. Costs nothing, except for the visitor . . . who may (or may not) be reliable.
