Boatyard unhelpful parking

Slightly different, a car parked to stop us getting to the harbour gates to close them, despite signs, yellow hatching and tapes. He didn't seem to notice when he turned up that his car was three spaces down....forklift with a pallet on the forks.

Yes, in this case on the mud in the harbour, it was the harbour gates we were closing.

I have equipment that I need to run from the car's electrical supply - I have no means of charging batteries when ashore, so even 12v stuff has to be powered from the car - ideally with the engine running. So I need to be able to park as close as possible when (for example) polishing the hull. Moot at present, as I have paid for professional cleaning this time!

At least if you park under someone else's boat they can follow the jump leads across the yard to let you know they're going to be working on the hull of their boat.

In my experience is people parking up and then heading off for the day that are a problem.

When I was in the process of selling my last boat the sea trial was delayed on account of the boatyard allegedly being unable to launch her due the presence of parked cars.

When I left the car at Gweek boatyard I asked at the office, they kept the keys, in case , say, there was a fire.

There are two things I find inconsiderate.
1/ When my boat is in the yard, people park cars and restict my access.
2/ When my boat has been launched, people leave boats where I want to park.

It's become a particular problem at Wicormarine since they opened (the very fine) Salt Cafe on site. Now parking is always an issue whatever the time of year with the additional visitors.

While I'd never begrudge someone their flat white and smashed avocado ciabatta, it grates struggling to park the car when you pay a tidy sum to keep the boat there.

is it just me who is uncomfortable with people driving cars near to propped boats? i alqays leave a few railway sleepers to stop them getting too close.

Thornham Marina has a notice that reminds parkers that 'our boatlift can dunk your car without a ripple'! Doesnt seem to stop people.

There's a maybe apocryphal story of the square rigger ' Astrid ' doing her own bit of car repositioning at Weymouth, with the bowsprit in one side window and out of the other of a 2CV, shuffling it along the quayside.

There are quite a few stories of high spirited RAF apprentices hoisting the C/O's car on top of Portakabins etc, you lot need to be far more creative

Agree fully as our boat is at wicor and parking can be a pain!

I had some pillock park in front of Tomahawk on the day I was going to launch.... There was plenty of space elsewhere in the yard. Fortunatly they returned. I was less than diplomatic.
